Grace and Micah have been coming back to celebrate their anniversary for the past three years, and this year’s session was just as beautiful as ever. Every year, they come dressed in outfits that perfectly suit the vibe, and they always bring along their fun energy. From the moment we started, they were full of smiles, and they enjoyed sharing quiet moments that captured their connection.

It’s incredible how simple moments like a walk down a quiet street or a quick kiss under an archway can show the essence of a relationship. This session serves as a great reminder—whether you’re marking an anniversary, an engagement, or just creating new memories together, there’s so much beauty in these little moments.

Northfield is truly something special when it comes to locations for photos. The town’s charm is timeless, filled with rustic, historical buildings, and streets that make you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. It’s not just the rich history, like the Jesse James robbery that took place here; it’s the character and soul of the town. There’s an old-world feel to it that really makes the photos stand out. 

For this session with Grace and Micah, we stayed in the heart of downtown. There are so many hidden spots—nooks and crannies around every corner that add something special to the photos. From the brick walls to the charming little shops, every background added a different mood to their photos. Northfield also has two beautiful colleges nearby, Carleton and St. Olaf, and both offer endless possibilities for photos with their scenic landscapes and classic architecture.

If you’re looking for a setting with both an urban feel and the warmth of a small town, Northfield is a perfect choice. With the river running through the center of town and all the historical details, there’s no shortage of great spots for a shoot. 

What to Wear for Downtown Engagement Photos

When getting ready for your downtown session, picking the right outfit helps everything come together.
